EMERGENCY GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT WITH THANKS TO ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND

UPDATE

In May 2020 MÓTUS received grant funding aid from Arts Council England to assist us to research:

  • Audiences and the current impact we are making and how to develop this alongside creating new and exciting partnerships, collaborating with a host of artists and communities.

  • New and possible spaces for dance, performance and research in Milton Keynes and partnerships connected to this to promote dance as a unique, accessible and important art form in the area.

  • Current partnerships and potential future partnerships working across Milton Keynes and nearby regions in order to realise exciting projects, reach audiences and new participants for dance.

  • New communities and spaces. Online communication reaching out to new communities and community figures to include spaces underused and with bucket loads of potential.

  • Desirable medium to large scale community projects as a result of above research.

  • Continued communication with new partners, venues, audiences and communities.

  • Research into future collaborators.

  • Projects within online capacity across web-site and social media to include dance, writing, image and film responses.

  • Artists creating work online for youth dance company and youth general provision.

We are therefore reaching out to see if any of the above ignited some interest in YOU, anyone YOU work with or any spaces YOU are familiar with that could be used for dance/performance/rehearsal for both professional and community artists.

MÓTUS realises the unprecedented situation with which we are all faced during this time with COVID-19 but would like to prepare to its very best ability in order to provide as much possibility in the upcoming months to create cultural change for dance within the Milton Keynes area with regard to performance, rehearsal and artistic spaces for movement.

We would love to hear from YOU in relation to any of the above.

The University of Chichester’s MA touring company is an established group of dynamic young dancers recruited nationally and internationally. Their diverse repertoire offers audiences a refreshing mixture of gritty dance-theatre, wry humour, and both intricate and questioning choreograph

WAKE

TAMZEN MOULDING

Wake is a short film, commissioned by MÓTUS, about living with all the different versions of ourselves. Created by Inverted with original music by Aelfyn Shipton, directed by James Bonas, with filming and edit by Simon Becket, this is an original film created specifically for filming during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Narratively, Wake follows the same character (Tamzen Moulding) over time - habituating the same space, alone.  Wake reflects on the past ‘versions’ of ourselves and the deeply engrained memories that habituate our physicality.
