KATIE DALE-EVERETT

Katie Dale-Everett Dance creates to generate opportunity for choreography, the body and the digital to connect people, spaces, ideas and experiences in a world where we believe connection should be nurtured more. Artistic Director Katie has been supported by leading organisations and funders including Arts Council England, Studio Wayne McGregor through the QuestLab Network scheme and The Point through their Associate Artist scheme.

With digital interaction and communication increasingly infiltrating everything we do, the company work to explore how digital interaction relates to the body and mind, investigating how these two mediums can work together to bridge gaps in communication and connection, humanise technology, relook at and question ideas and to better understand how we relate to ourselves and others.

At the heart of all the company does is a desire to bring the work they make to non-traditional performance and creative spaces, to both those who have already had experience of and those who have not yet of choreography and to ensure that the work is increasingly accessible. The company champions the idea that within the right environment, anyone can be creative and connect with others.

EMPA Technology Research Project

EMPA is an intimate participative installation that tackles questions of communication including; how we see each other and ourselves and also how communities come back together during the current loneliness pandemic.

"By utilising technology to exchange presence, senses and embodiment can we reach a similar, less or more empathetic relationship to that of face to face communication?"

Katie Dale-Everett

This facilitated interactive and participatory work for two people brought strangers together for a unique and intimate experience by combining virtual reality, writing, conversation, reflection, live camera feeds and dance. Watch the video below to find out more about this research.
